Toulouse
Exploring the vibrant 'Pink City' and the medieval fortress of Carcassonne.
Toulouse, France’s “Pink City,” was a delightful discovery. From its vibrant central square to the historic walls of Carcassonne, it was a trip filled with charm and history.
Arrival in the Pink City
Settling into the heart of Toulouse after a long journey.
My trip started with a flight to Paris, followed by a train ride that brought me to the heart of Toulouse, the “Pink City.” I checked into my hotel right on the Place du Capitole, the city’s main square. The location was perfect, putting me right in the middle of the action and making it easy to explore the city on foot.
A Day Trip to Carcassonne
Stepping back in time in the incredible medieval fortified city.
One of the highlights of my trip was a day trip to Carcassonne. A short train ride took me to this incredible medieval fortress. Walking through the walled city felt like stepping back in time. I spent the day exploring its narrow cobblestone streets, towers, and ramparts, imagining what life must have been like centuries ago.
Wandering Through Toulouse
Enjoying the atmosphere and charm of the city.
The rest of my time was spent wandering through Toulouse itself. I enjoyed the lively atmosphere of the city, from its bustling markets to its peaceful moments along the Garonne River. The nickname “Pink City” really comes to life as you see the unique terracotta bricks that give the buildings their warm hue.
Return to Paris
A final stop in the capital before heading home.
All too soon, it was time to head back. I took a train back to Paris for a brief stay before my flight home. It was a nice way to bookend the trip, with a final taste of Parisian life before the journey back across the Atlantic.
